Sign Language Beginner*

This course is designed to provide the students a basic understanding and knowledge of American Sign Language. Coursework includes learning and practicing ASL signs and grammar structures, vocabulary, finger spelling, communication techniques and understanding how hand orientation and facial expressions are integrated in the signing process. It also provides an introductory glimpse into the Deaf Culture. Upon completion, the learner will understand how to conduct himself when meeting a deaf person and have the capability to communicate and understand basic thoughts in sign language. It will help in any setting where there will be interaction with deaf individuals.
