DCCC to Offer Free Financial Aid Night for Students and Parents
Jan. 7, 2013 – Prospective college students wishing to learn more about financial aid will have the opportunity to do so at Davidson County Community College, which will host a free Financial Aid Night at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 in the Conference and Technology Center on the Davidson Campus of DCCC.
“We are encouraging local high school students and their parents to attend this informative session, which will allow them to get a better understanding of the student aid process and how best to begin planning to fund their higher education,” says Yvette Canty, Financial Aid counselor at DCCC.
A student aid expert from College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) will be on-hand to provide information and answer questions.
Canty explains both students and parents will learn what they need to do to apply for all types of financial aid, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which is required to qualify for most student aid programs, such as North Carolina State Grants, Federal Pell Grant, institutional awards and low-cost federal student and parent loans.
Those who attend will also be provided information on North Carolina specific aid programs, as well as the importance of searching out free money awards, such as scholarships that help pay for education costs.
For more information about the Financial Aid Night, contact Yvette Canty at 336-249-8186, ext. 6389 or email email@example.com.
