DCCC, DavidsonWorks to Host Spring Job Fair
March 25, 2013 – Community members hoping to find job leads and career opportunities have the chance to do just that by visiting the “Spring Job Fair,” hosted by Davidson County Community College and DavidsonWorks. The event will feature businesses from the region that have job openings for recent graduates and community members. The job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 9 in the Brinkley Gym on the Davidson Campus. It is open to the public.
The event will include tours of DCCC’s state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing labs, as well as workshops by DavidsonWorks that are meant to not only improve soft skills, but provide useful information to those seeking employment. Workshop offerings will include “The Top 5 Skills Employers Want You to Have” and “Give Work a Chance,” presented by Joel Leonard, host and producer of SkillTV.net.
“Our Spring Job Fair is truly a great way for talented job seekers to network with local businesses and find promising career opportunities,” says Anissa Causey, project coordinator for the North Carolina Advanced Manufacturing Alliance at DCCC. “The event also serves as a way for DCCC to bridge the gap between education and employment for our students.”
Causey adds that those interested in attending the job fair also have the chance to arrive fully prepared for an interview, as DCCC’s Career Services team will host seminars prior to the event on April 1-8. The seminars will include resume reviews and tips for attending job fairs for potential graduates and those in the community. For information about the seminars, contact Anissa Causey at email@example.com.
