DCCC Announces a Reception to Honor Two Visiting Fulbright Scholars

An opportunity to meet and honor the scholars as well as learn more about these visiting scholars and the language courses they will be teaching. Mr Khedr is scheduled to teach Arabic for Beginners and Mr. Rafferty is scheduled to teach Irish Language for Beginners and Irish Language.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Arabic for Beginners
Grab the rare opportunity to learn basic Modern Standard Arabic script and grammar, as well as how to handle everyday living situations in an Arabic culture from Mr. Omar Khedr from 15th of May City, Egypt. Omar will be part of Davidson County Community College’s community as one of the visiting Fulbright Language Teaching Assistants for the 2015-16 academic year. He is eager to share his culture and “dissolve ideological boundaries” in this class. Modern Standard Arabic (and its roots in Classical Arabic) is the heart and soul of the Arabic language and the greatest treasure of the Arab culture.

Fergal will be part of Davidson County Community College’s community as one of the visiting Fulbright Language Teaching Assistants for the 2015-2016 calendar year. He is eager to share his language and culture in this class.

Irish Language 1
This course introduces the fundamental elements of the Irish (Gaelic) language within a cultural context. Emphasis is placed on the development of basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond with grammatical accuracy to spoken and written Irish (Gaelic) and demonstrate cultural awareness.
