Getting Started

Step 1: Apply for VA Education Benefits

All new students looking to receive VA Education Benefits at DCCC first must apply with the VA, who will determine your eligibility.

  1. Go to the webpage How to Apply for the GI Bill on the VA’s website, and select “Find Your Education Form”. Answer the corresponding questions.  This will lead you to your correct VA education form.
  2. Complete the form which applies to you, and save the confirmation page.
  3. You will receive your Certificate of Eligibility Letter approximately 30-45 days after applying. It contains pertinent details regarding your benefit, so be sure to keep a copy for your records.

Step 2: Submit Documentation to DCCC

Once you have applied for your benefits, you will need to submit the following documentation to DCCC before your classes can be certified.

If you are the Veteran:

  • High School Transcript or High School Equivalency (GED)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
    • Note: This includes any training facility where you were previously certified for VA Educational Benefits.
  • DD-214 (Member 4 or Service 2)
  • Certificate of Eligibility Letter
  • DCCC Veterans Contract

If you are a spouse or child of the Veteran:

  1. High School Transcript or High School Equivalency (GED)
  2. Official Transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.
    • Note: This includes any training facility where you were previously certified for VA Education Benefits.
  3. Certificate of Eligibility Letter
  4. DCCC Veterans Contract

Transcripts may be submitted to the Admissions Office. Other documentation can be brought to the Enrollment Center in the Mendenhall Building, or e-mailed to va@davidsonccc.edu.
