Graduation Requirements
- Catalog of Record: A student who is not in continuous enrollment at the College or who changes from one major to another will graduate under the catalog in effect at the time of reenrollment or major change. Continuous enrollment excludes summer term.
- 25% Rule: Students transferring to the College must pass at least 25% of the required semester hours of credit at the College in order to be eligible to graduate with a degree, diploma, or certifi cate. The 25% resident credit may not include transfer, correspondence, CLEP or CEEB Advanced Placement.
- The following policies and procedures will be used in determining the eligibility for graduation of a student at this institution:
- A candidate for a degree, diploma, or certificate must have successfully completed all preparatory and credit hours as specifi ed in the College catalog for a specifi c degree, diploma, or certificate.
- A candidate for a degree, diploma, or certificate must have completed all course work as set forth in the College catalog for a specific degree, diploma, or certificate except as indicated in number 4 below.
- A candidate for a specific degree, diploma, or certificate must have earned at least a 2.0 grade point average. Only grades in those courses credited to the program for which he/she is to receive a degree, diploma, or certificate are included in the grade point average.
- In determining a student’s eligibility for graduation, the College will adhere to the above policies except that upon written recommendation of the student’s advisor and the written approval of the Assistant Dean and the Associate Dean of the appropriate division as well as the Vice President, Academic Programs and Services, course requirements may be waived or substitutions allowed within the provisions of the State Curriculum Standards.
- Students may track their progress toward graduation on StormTrac.
Application Procedure

Students must follow these steps to apply for graduation:
- GRADUATION APPLICATION: Complete a separate graduation application for each credential.
- PROGRAM EVALUATION: Print a program evaluation using your DCCC StormTrac account and attach it to the graduation application for each credential.
- ADVISOR MEETING: Schedule an appointment to meet with your advisor to review your program evaluation.
- Obtain your advisor’s signature on each graduation application.
- Attach any additional forms given to you by your advisor (ex. Course Substitution forms, Graduation Exception forms, etc.)
- RECORDS OFFICE: Submit the signed application with attached forms to the Student Records Office located in the Brooks Student Center, Room 215 or 215A.
Once your graduation application is submitted, the Student Records Staff will evaluate your eligibility for graduation and notify you by email of the results.
Application Deadlines
- Students who will complete their program in Spring Semester (May) should apply for graduation by March 1st.
- Students who will complete their program in Summer Term (July) should apply for graduation by June 1st.
- Students who will complete their program in Fall Semester (December) should apply for graduation by October 15th.
- Applications received AFTER the deadline will be processed with the next semester’s applications.
- Degrees, diplomas, and certificates are ordered three times each year, in March, June, and November, and are received in May, August, and December.
Graduation with Honors
- Graduation with HIGH HONORS is granted to students in degree, diploma, and certificate programs who have achieved an overall PROGRAM grade point average of 3.8 or higher in courses required in the program of study.
- Graduation with HONORS is granted to students in degree, diploma, and certificate programs who have achieved an overall PROGRAM grade point average of at least 3.5 and less than 3.8.
Commencement
- A commencement exercise to award degrees, diplomas, and certificates is held at the end of the spring semester in May.
- Students who are within 6 credit hours of completing their program of study may participate in the Spring Commencement ceremony.
- Diplomas are mailed to students AFTER the ceremony.
- Students who owe tuition, fees, and/or fines to the College may not participate in the commencement ceremony or receive offi cial transcripts or the final credential until all balances are paid.
