Academic Advising Vision
DCCC aspires to create an intentional academic advising experience that empowers students to define, plan, and achieve success.
Academic Advising Mission
Davidson County Community College recognizes that academic advising is an essential component of the educational experience and to student success. The Office of Academic Advising takes a proactive approach to assisting students with educational planning, helping students establish realistic academic and career goals, and fostering in students greater understanding for the relationship between education, self-reliance, and lifelong learning.
Academic Advising Goals
- Assist students with identifying personal and professional goals related to future employment or advanced educational opportunities.
- Foster in students skills towards becoming informed decision makers and self-directed learners.
- Collaborate with students through the use of the College’s resources to achieve academic success and degree completion.
- Develop with students mutually agreed upon educational plans that empower them to appraise their progress.
Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA)
The Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) degrees provide courses toward a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) addresses the transfer of credits between institutions in the North Carolina Community College System to members of the University of North Carolina system. It does not address admission to an institution nor to a specific major within an institution.
