Sept. 11, 2013 – Davidson County Community College is gearing up for a celebration during Latin Heritage Month with a nonstop Latin dance party event, “Salsa Magic,” to be held from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 25 in the Mary E. Rittling Conference Center on the Davidson Campus. The event is free and open to the public; tickets are not required.

“Salsa Magic” is an exciting, interactive Latin dance party where students and attendees will learn iconic Latin dance moves, including the Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggae, and even the newest dance crazes from renowned DJs Lee “El Gringuito” and Kat “La Gata.”

The group, which has performed at more than 500 college campuses in 48 states, is a two-time Best Novelty Artist nominee. They have appeared on the TV show “Ambush Makeover,” on FOX Television, ABC Univision, and Telemundo, and were even featured on the season finale of “America’s Got Talent.”

“We are excited to be able to share the talents of this duo,” says Lynne Watts, director of Student Life and Leadership at DCCC. “This event serves as a great way for students to truly get engaged in cultural activities on campus with a fun, yet educational performance.”

National Latin Heritage Month, celebrated from Sept. 15 - Oct. 15, was established by President Lyndon B. Johnson to recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans and Latinos to the United States, and to celebrate the their heritage and culture.
