Frequently Asked Questions
How does the NEIT program work?
Davidson County Community College works with companies who are new to the area or are expanding their current operations. An assessment is taken of the new positions being added and the types of training that will be necessary for new employees to become productive. A project is created and submitted to the state for funding approval of the training needed. Upon approval, customized training programs are set up to meet the company’s needs. All of this is done at no cost to the employer.

Where will the training be done?
Training can take place at the company or on any of our campuses. Often, vendors who are suppliers to the company will provide the training at their respective locations. Special facilities can be arranged for training if necessary.

Our expansion will take several months. Is there a time limit on this program?
Most projects are funded for three years if necessary.

Endorsement
Unilin Flooring has indicated that one factor that led to their decision in locating their new plant in Thomasville was the College's involvement in providing training for their new employees. Courses are being conducted through the New & Expanding Industry Training program. Through the program, the College has worked with the company in providing pre-employment training for new and potential employees. Courses have been conducted in safety, computers, and specific customized training for the machines and processes that are unique to the new plant.
