Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get your GED or AHS diploma?
The time it takes to earn either a GED or AHS diploma depends on the dedication of the student, class attendance and the educational level of the student when he/she enters the program.
What are the major differences between earning a GED and an AHS diploma?
Individuals who enroll in AHS will be required to complete 24 instructional units equivalent to those required by public high schools, pass the North Carolina Competency test, and complete the college assessment process. Individuals enrolled in the GED program take a series of tests to complete the GED. Those who pass five tests in the subject areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies are awarded the GED credential.
What are the benefits to attending the Get REAL program?
Student-teacher ratio in the Get REAL program is low so that students can get the individual attention they need to be successful. Students also have an individual employability plan developed with them, which includes an aptitude assessment.
How much does the program cost?
The program is free of charge for all students.
