Mission Statement/Description
The General Educational Development (GED) program offers students who have not completed high school to complete a high school equivalency diploma. The GED tests students in areas of reading, writing, math, science and social studies to award the GED credential. Upon entry into the program, students are assessed in the areas of reading, writing, and math and referred to the appropriate classes for study or review.

Special Admission Requirements
The student must not have a high school diploma. An orientation and assessment must be completed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I go about signing up to take the GED tests?
Students must first enroll in a GED class or program of study. The students must attend the class a minimum of 12 hours. Students must then score at an appropriate level on the TABE test and an official GED practice test. Once students have met the above criteria, they will be ready to sign up for he GED tests. The instructor will provide a referral sheet that is the student's ticket for scheduling the GED tests.

Can I just walk in and take the GED?
No, students must enroll in a class and meet the criteria mentioned above to be signed up for GED testing.

What do the GED classes cost?
There is no cost for the classes or books, but there is a $7.50 testing fee when the students begin to take the actual test.

How long will it take me to get my GED?
The length of study time varies with each person depending on skill levels in each of the subject areas. Once the student does the initial assessment and registration, a projected time for necessary study will be discussed with the student.
