Tutorial Services

The Learning Commons is located on the first floor of the Love Learning Resource Building on the Davidson campus.  The center provides free tutoring for enrolled students in math, business, computer technology, writing and reading.  In addition to the tutoring services the Learning provides a variety of academic support workshops.  Additional tutoring services may be available upon request in other subjects. 

Students may request tutoring at any time during the semester by completing a Request for Tutoring Form (found online at www.davidsonccc.edu/lc or at the Learning Commons welcome desk).  The form should be signed by your instructor and returned to the Learning Commons.  Qualified professional and peer tutors are employed by the College to share their learning strategies and problem-solving skills with any student having difficulty in a subject. 

The following coaching centers are located in the Learning Commons:

Business and Computer Technology Coaching Center provides free tutoring in accounting, economics, and computer technology.  The coaching center also provides assistance in learning how to use moodle/blackboard stormtrac, e-mail and other college resources.

Math Coaching Center provides free tutoring in essential mathematics, introductory algebra, intermediate algebra, survey of mathematics, statistics I, statistical analysis, college algebra, precalculus algebra, and precalculus. 

Writing and Reading Coaching Center provides free tutoring to enrolled students in writing assignments. 
The following tutoring services are available but not typically in the Learning Commons:
Biology Lab is located in the Gee Building and provides free tutoring to students in all levels of biology. 
Nursing Tutoring is typically located in the Briggs building and provides free tutoring to students enrolled in the nursing program.

Davie Campus currently provides free tutoring in biology, math, Spanish, and writing.
