Six international students arrived on the DCCC campus in early August, 2011 as part of the Community College Initiative Program (CCIP). This program is managed by Community Colleges for International Development (CCID, http://ccid.kirkwood.cc.ia.us) and the Fulbright Commission. The program is funded by the USA Government, Education & Cultural Department/Affairs (ECA) and the U.S. State Department. This is the third year DCCC has participated in the program. In 2009-10, the college hosted four students from Egypt. Last year, our students came from three different countries on three different continents: Ghana (in Africa), Pakistan (in Southern Asia), and Nicaragua (in Central America.) This year’s students come from Egypt, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Turkey. We are proud to host the first all female cohort in CCI history!
