Shanna Nicole Swicegood and Barnel Thomas Leonard were married Sunday, April 23, at Lexington Community Church.

The couple exchanged vows in a 4 p.m. ceremony before the Rev. Eric Disher.

Soloist Jimmy Miller and guitarist Kevin Scoggin Sr. presented a program of music.

The bride is the daughter of Larry and Anne Swicegood of Lexington. She is the granddaughter of Patty Swicegood of Lexington and the late Calvin Swicegood and Elizabeth Williams of Salisbury and the late Alonzo "Buck" Williams. She is a 1993 graduate of West Davidson High School and a 1997 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in education. She is employed with Davidson County Schools.

The groom is the son of Steve and Helen Leonard of Lexington. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Leonard Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Barnie Nelson Barker. He is a 1987 graduate of Central Davidson High School, 1989 graduate of Davidson County Community College and will graduate this fall from Western Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He is employed by the North Carolina Division of Community Corrections.

The bride's father escorted her.

The groom's father served as best man.

Steve Leonard Jr., the groom's brother, and Kevin Pope were ushers. Robert Allmer, Will Hannah and Matt Hannah were honorary ushers.

The bride's mother was matron of honor.

Dana Steadman, the bride's twin sister, and Andrea Allmer, the bride's sister, were bridesmaids.

Taylor Pope was flower girl. Zackery Steadman, the bride's nephew, was ringbearer.

Leah Leonard, the groom's sister-in-law, registered guests.

Janie Grabowski and Cathy Hannah, the bride's aunts, directed the wedding.

After a trip to Charleston and North Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will make their home in Linwood.

Reception

The couple's families hosted a reception at the Lexington Municipal Club following the ceremony.

Cathy Hannah, Laura Hannah, Becky Cain, Janie Grabowski, Daisy Little, Julia Leonard and Donna and Wayne Wilkins assisted in serving. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Clement greeted guests. Music was presented by Ken Davis.

Rehearsal Dinner

The bride's grandmother hosted a dinner at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on April 22.

Bridesmaids' Luncheon

Donna Wilkins hosted a luncheon at her home on April 15.
