Cynthia "Cindy" Reneé Fowler Hairston, 39, of Lexington, was peacefully called home by God Monday, June 12, 2006, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church on West Third Avenue by the Rev. John Cade. Burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery.

Mrs. Hairston was born Dec. 10, 1966, in Forsyth County to Blondia Watson Fowler Smith and Ardell Fowler. She graduated from Lexington Senior High School in 1985 and attended Davidson County Community College. She was employed with Lexington City Schools at South Lexington Primary School as a teacher's assistant. She was a member of Files Baptist Church, where she faithfully and actively served until her illness. She was a member of the Pastor's Aide, Order of the Eastern Star P.H.A., White Rose Chapter 157 in High Point, where she served as Ruth. She was a kind-hearted, soft-spoken and easy-going person who enjoyed spending time with her children, family and church members. Mrs. Hairston was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sampson and Molease Watson and Willie and Annie Fowler Kelly; one brother, Kenneth Ardell Fowler; two aunts; and five uncles.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her mother and stepfather, Blondia and Larry Smith of Lexington; father and stepmother, Ardell and Barbara Fowler of Lexington; a daughter, Crystal Fowler, and a son, Darius Fowler, both of Lexington; three brothers, Dominique Watson and Charles Watson, both of Lexington, and Van Fowler of Asheville; two stepsisters, Sandra Hairston and Marlo Moore, both of Lexington; two stepbrothers, Lonnie Ray Hairston of Lexington and Reginald Jackson of Winston-Salem; nine aunts, Mary Harrell and her husband, William, Martha Brown and her husband, Wade, Gladys Walser and her husband, Raymond, Annie Dalton and her husband, T.J., Minister Emma Click and Linda Curry, all of Lexington, Masie Lassiter and her husband, James, of Chapel Hill, Eloise Fowler Watson of High Point and Peggy Fowler Woodberry of Greensboro; six uncles, Sampson Watson Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Robert Curry and Johnny Curry, all of Lexington, William Watson Sr. and his wife, Mary, of Sebring, Fla., Charlie Watson Sr. and his wife, Gracie of Bronx, N.Y., and Tommy Watson and his wife, Cynthia, of Winston-Salem; one niece, Felassha Shrelle King of Lancaster, S.C.; four nephews, Christopher Watson of Lexington, Charles Kershaw of Winston-Salem and Van Fowler Jr. and Dominique Fowler, both of Conway, S.C.; close friends Jesse Bussey and Jesse Vaughn, both of Lexington; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
A private viewing will be held.
