2005 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient
Kevin Wayne Hoover, Class of 1993
Kevin Wayne Hoover, D.D.S., is oneof Davidson County Community College’s most notable graduates and “ambassadors.” As a proud DCCC alumnus, he regularly tells his patients and those with whom he comes in contact that DCCC provided him with the wisdom and foresight to become the person he is today. That person is a successful dentist, son, father and husband, and an especially devoted dad to his two young children. Hoover has successfully combined family, work, civic responsibilities and faith into a prosperous and fulfilling life, a life that he uses to help others.
Hoover graduated from DCCC on May 20, 1993, earning an Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology with High Honors. At DCCC, he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Dean’s List. He transferred to North Carolina State University where he majored in Zoology and was inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society. He was accepted into dental school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 1999 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Since then, he has practiced dentistry in Lexington, North Carolina with his father, Charles W. Hoover, D.D.S.
Hoover is past president and a long-standing member of the Davidson County Dental Society. In addition, he is an active member of the North Carolina Dental Society and the American Dental Society. He is also a member of the UNC General Alumni Association and a supporter of the Dental Foundation of North Carolina.
Hoover is an outstanding example of what a community dentist should be. Faithfully, he and several staff members from his dental practice volunteer their time each month performing much-needed dental work on patients at a free health and dental clinic in Lexington, North Carolina.
