How To Apply

Federal Pell Grant

For low-income U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are enrolled in an eligible program of study.

Grants range from $200 to $4,310 for the 2007-2008 academic year.

A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) obtained from your college, high school counselors, or on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Federal Supplement Education Opportunity Grant

Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with extreme financial need.

Awards range from $100 to $400 and are intended as supplements to the Federal Pell Grant.

Complete a FAFSA.

Academic Competitive-ness Grant

Low income US citizens or permanent residents who are eligible for Federal Pell Grant. Students must be full time status, enrolled in an eligible program, and have completed a rigorous high school program. Grant range from $375 to $1300 per year.

Complete a FAFSA.

Federal Work-Study

Low-income eligible students enrolled preferably at least part-time.

Work-study involves part-time employment (10-15 hours/week) in campus offices, labs, etc. Pay ranges from $6.50 to $7.00 /hour.

Indicate your interest by completing a DCCC Work-Study Application available in the F.A. Office in addition to the FAFSA.

North Carolina Student Incentive Grant

Low -income residents of North Carolina who are full-time students.

Grants range from $350 to $700 per year.

Submit FAFSA by March 15th of each year.

 

North Carolina Community College Grants

Low -income NC residents attending one of the 58 Community Colleges at least half-time (6 credit hours) status.

Grants range from $50 to $2100 per year.

Submit FAFSA by March 15th of each year.

 

North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship Low income NC residents who enroll for at least 6 credit hours per semester. Students must be in an eligible program of study. Awards range from $100 to $2300 per year.

Submit the FAFSA by March 15th of each year.

 

DCCC Foundation Scholarships

Eligibility varies. Most are need-based for full-time students. Complete the FAFSA by March 30th.

Awards range from $300 to $1100 per year.

Complete FAFSA by March 30th of each year.

 

Child Care Assistance Grant

Single or married student-parents eligible for financial assistance.

Payments to child care providers-licensed centers, small registered homes.

Obtain Child Care Application from F.A. Office.
