How to Apply for Financial Aid

We at Davidson County Community College (DCCC) are pleased that you wish to continue your education, and we will assist you in this goal within our resources and governmental guidelines.

To apply for financial aid, complete the steps listed below:

  1. Submit a DCCC application for admission. You may apply online or in person at any of the DCCC campus locations.
  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using federal tax returns from the prior tax year. The FAFSA may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or through a paper application available in the Enrollment and Career Services Center (Davidson campus) and at the Davie campus. If you did not file a tax return or if you had additional sources of income, you will need proof of untaxed income (Social Security benefits, AFDC benefits, child support, etc.) to complete your FAFSA. Be sure to list DCCC in the college section of the FAFSA. If you need assistance with completing the FAFSA, contact the Enrollment and Career Services Center at 336.249.8186, ext. 6714.
  3. NOTE: The DCCC federal school code is 002919.

    Complete the admission application process:

  4. Submit all high school and college transcripts to the Enrollment and Career Services Center. If you completed your high school credential with a GED or AHS diploma, you will need to submit your partial high school transcript along with your final GED/AHS transcript. All college transcripts submitted must be official (mailed directly from the institution to DCCC or hand-delivered by the student in a sealed envelope). You may click on the Transcript Request Form to request your transcript.
  5. Complete the DCCC academic and computer skills assessments. Appointments are available several times per day, Monday-Friday, in the Enrollment and Career Services Center. Students who have earned credit for English, math, and computer courses may be exempt from all or part of the assessment. Exemption will be determined by an Admission Counselor once all transcripts have been submitted.

The financial aid application process takes time, and we encourage
you to complete the FAFSA as early as possible. You should begin applying at least six weeks before you wish to begin your studies
at DCCC.
