How to Apply for Financial Aid

We are pleased that you wish to continue your education here at DCCC, and will assist you in this goal within our resources and governmental guidelines. The application process takes time and planning, so we encourage you to complete it as early as possible.

Your admissions application and FAFSA should be submitted no later than eight weeks before the term you wish to enroll and much sooner if possible to ensure ample time for processing.

To apply for financial aid, complete the steps listed below:

  1. First, be sure you have submitted a DCCC general application for admission so DCCC has your student information.
  1. Complete the FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online using federal tax returns from the prior tax year so DCCC has your financial eligibility information.
    • The FAFSA should be completed online at: www.fafsa.gov.
      • Worksheets are available in Enrollment Serivices.
    • If you did not file a tax return or had other sources of income, you will need to collect your information about the untaxed income.
      • This may include income such as: Social Security benefits, AFDC benefits, child support, etc. to complete your FAFSA.
    • Be sure to list DCCC in the college section of the FAFSA.

DCCC'S FEDERAL SCHOOL CODE FOR THE FAFSA IS 002919.

    • For assistance completing the FAFSA, you may visit or contact Enrollment Services Center staff with specific questions.  We are located on the second floor of the Mendenhall Building on the Davidson Campus.

Once both the admissions application and the FAFSA have been submitted the remaining steps for DCCC acceptance and financial aid eligibility must be completed.

  1. Submit your high school (or GED) and all official college transcripts to the DCCC Admissions Office.
    • Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required for Financial Aid eligibility.
    • College transcripts for all colleges attended must be official (mailed directly from the institution to DCCC or hand-delivered by the student in its original sealed envelope).
    • You may click on the Transcript Request Form to request any needed transcript(s).  Applicants are responsible for any transcript request fees.
  1. Complete the DCCC placement tests.
    • Appointments are available several times each week, Monday-Friday, in the Enrollment Services Office.
    • Students who have earned credit for college-level English, math, and/or computer courses may be exempt from all or part of the assessment. Exemption will be determined by an Admission Counselor once all transcripts have been submitted.
