How to Drop Classes

Why is it important to officially drop classes?
  • If you just stop attending class and do not complete the procedure for dropping classes, you can receive a grade of F from the instructor.
  • Your financial aid can be affected by a change in the credit hours for which you are registered.
Will I get a refund when I drop classes?
  • If you drop before the first day of classes, you will receive a 100% tuition refund.
  • If you drop between the first day of classes and the 10% point of the semester, you will receive a 75% refund.
  • There will be no tuition refunds after the 10% point of the semester.
  • For emergency or medical withdrawals, please refer to the 2005-2006 General Catalog & Student Handbook.
Will I get a grade for classes that I drop?
  • If you drop a class before the 60% point of the semester, you will not receive a grade in the course. No grade will be recorded on your transcript.
  • If you drop after the 60% point of the semester, you will receive a grade from the instructor.
Will I have to repay financial aid for classes that I drop?
  • Yes, if you drop classes before the 60% point of the semester.
Procedure for Dropping a Class
1. Obtain a Course Withdrawal Form from the Records Office, 2nd floor     of Brooks Student Center.
2. Obtain the instructor’s signature on the form.
3. Obtain your advisor’s signature on the form.
4. Return the form to the Records Office.
