Davidson County Community College had to endure a grueling game against Montgomery College-Germantown to earn the right to compete for a national championship.
The Storm (29-4) face Roxbury (Mass.) Community College at 6 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Division III national tournament at Delhi, N.Y.
It turns out that Roxbury has a similar team to the Montgomery College-Germantown squad that DCCC edged 85-83 in the District 7 title game last Saturday.
Uh oh — maybe.
“They're a lot like Germantown,” said DCCC coach Matt Ridge. “They're extremely athletic. They like to speed the game up — 90-plus points. We've got to take care of the basketball. We got to beat their presses, get into the middle on offense and make things happen.”
Just by making the long bus trip to New York, they have already made things happen.
