Getting the University of North Carolina's junior varsity basketball team to play a game at Davidson County Community College was a major coup.
What the Storm did on the court was even better.
Roderick Geter scored 29 points and Justin Glover had 24 as DCCC swamped the previously unbeaten Tar Heels in a stunning 101-69 rout at Brinkley Gym on Wednesday.
UNC handed the Storm an 81-69 defeat the first time the teams played on Nov. 15 at the Smith Center.
The sense was that the Storm could play with the Tar Heels. But a 32-point rout?
“I had no idea at all,” Glover said. “But when we play together, we're pretty good.”
Some might say that's an understatement.
“This is the first time in a long time that we actually played together as a team,” said guard Phillip Williams. “If we keep playing as a team, we'll be hard to beat.”
Williams scored 15 points and Kimani Hunt had 15 for the Storm.
