Opportunities to Transfer Courses in the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Programs

The College's Associate in Applied Science degree programs such as nursing, electronics engineering technology, criminal justice, accounting, etc., were originally designed to provide technical knowledge and skills for direct application to the job market and not for transfer into baccalaureate level programs. However, over the years various four-year colleges have acknowledged the value and quality of these programs and have accepted for transfer all or part of the credits from some of these programs. Examples include UNC-Charlotte which transfers the AAS in Criminal Justice, North Carolina A & T State University which transfers ten AAS degree programs, High Point University which accepts the College’s AAS business-related programs and others, and transfer agreements with the University of North Carolina-Greensboro for the AAS in Associate Degree Nursing and several business-related programs.

Please remember that there is a wide variation in how senior colleges and universities handle AAS program transfer. If you are interested in the transfer potential of these programs, you should consult your advisor or the Advisement Center to help you verify your transfer options.
