What is a plan-of-study for the Associate in Arts, the Associate in Science, the Associate in General Education, and the Associate in Fine Arts?
A plan-of-study for any of these degrees is a listing of courses (curriculum) you would be expected to complete to earn the degree. The plans-of-study are included in the College Transfer Handbook, in the College’s General Catalog, and on the College website.
Why are the plans-of-study for the AA and the AS programs so similar?
These plans-of-study start with 44 semester hours of core courses. Those 44 hours of core courses form the foundation for a baccalaureate degree. After you have completed the 44 hours of core courses, you will select pre-major/elective courses more specific to your areas of interest. You will complete 20 semester hours of these courses to earn your AA or AS degree. You will select those twenty hours with your interests specifically in mind. In contrast, the Associate in General Education Degree is more inter-disciplinary and is used, primarily, for the College’s “2 + 2 =Teaching” agreement with North Carolina A & T State University. The AFA in music or art leads to the development of a transfer “portfolio.”
How do I know which transfer program I need to be in if I am transferring to a four year institution?
