Associate in Arts or Associate in Science Degree
This is your best option.
- Graduate from DCCC with a degree
- Granted “junior” academic status
- Granted 64 semester-hours of credit transferred
- Fulfillment of the UNC Minimum Admission Requirements (MAR’s) in effect at the time of high school graduation
- Fulfillment of the UNC Minimum Course Requirements (MCR's) in effect at the time of high school graduation
- Completion of the lower division general education component. However, students must meet the receiving university's foreign language and/or health and physical education requirements, if applicable, prior to or after transfer to the senior institution
- Granted admission to a UNC institution per the Transfer Assured Admissions Policy (TAAP)
Note: The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement does not articulate the Associate in General Education (AGE) so these guarantees do not necessarily apply.
44-hour General Education Core Diploma
This is your second best option. A student may choose this option if they have to take preparatory courses which would make it difficult to finish an associate degree in two years. Your advantages still include:
- Graduate from DCCC with a diploma
- Fulfillment of the UNC Minimum Admission Requirements (MAR’s) in effect at the time of high school graduation
- Fulfillment of the UNC Minimum Course Requirements (MCR's) in effect at the time of high school graduation
- Completion of the lower division general education component. However, students must meet the receiving university's foreign language and/or health and physical education requirements, if applicable, prior to or after transfer to the senior institution.
What are the UNC System Minimum Admission Requirements (MAR’s) for transfer students?
- Received the AA/AS degree OR,
- Completed the 44-hour General Education Core Diploma
If you do not complete one of the above requirements, then your high school Grade Point Average (GPA) and SAT/ACT score will be used to determine eligibility. Because of this, we recommend that all transfer students should not plan on transferring until they graduate with a degree or diploma.
What are the UNC System Minimum Course Requirements (MCR’s) for transfer students?
- Received the AA/AS degree OR,
- Completed the 44-hour General Education Core Diploma OR,
- Completed at least six semester hours of college English, six hours of foreign language, six hours of social sciences, six hours of math, and six hours of science
