Step 1 – Choose Major

What is a major?
A major is the field of study in which you specialize by taking 10 or more courses.

What if I haven’t decided on a major?

  • It’s OK. Many students know early in their studies which field they wish to study; other students need longer to decide.
  • Take courses to help you define your interests and talents.
  • Making a decision on a major by the end of the freshman year is helpful, so that you can begin taking courses that fulfill the requirements for that major.
  • Decide on a major by the time you transfer.
