Mission Statement
The Special Education program is a concentration under the curriculum of the Early Childhood Associate. This program provides educational opportunities that combine theoretical and hands-on learning experiences to prepare students for entry-level employment, career advancement, and/or advanced education in inclusive child development and education settings. The Special Education program focuses on preparing adults to work in inclusive environments, including public and private early care and preschool settings as well as public and private primary and/or elementary schools. Graduates demonstrate competence in assessing children and implementing appropriate learning experiences for children with exceptionalities, including writing and implementing Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
