Debit Control
This class will first determine the financial status of a family using a fictional budget and determine actions that need to be taken to improve the current financial status. Students will build a line item budget for the fictional family then takes this budget and develop a savings plan, a plan for anticipated purchases and unexpected expenditures. As a part of this expansion, the use of credit and in particular the use of credit cards will be considered.

Language & Literature Development in Children
This course combines theory, research, and practice to provide a solid foundation for understanding language development from birth to age eight. This course will supply readers with a basic understanding of the phonetic, semantic, syntactic, morphemic, and pragmatic aspects of language knowledge acquired by young children. In addition, ways in which this acquisition process can be enhanced in early childhood settings will be covered. Material is also included on the role of the brain in language development. Basic Computer Skills for Employment
This entry-level course provides a stress-free introduction to the technology and computer skills necessary for success in our digital world. Students will learn computer-related terms, general computer operations, the basics of document creation and editing with Microsoft Office 2010, and using the internet. Basket Weaving for the Beginner
Basket weaving is one of the few ancient crafts that continue to be made by hand. In learning basket weaving you will learn the basics of weaving such as start/stop weave, wrapping handles, continuous weave and many other techniques. Students will start by making a simple Jelly basket, then move on to a small round basket. By the end of the course, students should be able to weave a more difficult basket such as a cathead, twilled or other style of their choice.

Getting Paid to Talk
Ever been told you have a great voice? From audio books and cartoons to documentaries, commercials, and more, this class will introduce you to the growing field of voice over. Today, the range of voices hired has grown dramatically from the days of announcers. Learn what the pros look for, how to prepare, and where to find work in your area! We’ll discuss industry pros and cons and play samples from working voice professionals. In addition, you’ll have an opportunity to record a short professional script under the direction of our teacher. Small Engine Repair: Introduction to Rebuild
This small engine repair course carefully details the many system tools, and parts involved in successful repair. You will also learn the essentials for performance measurement and preventative maintenance, as well as an opportunity to work on your own small engine needs. Paramedic
This course, the first of three semesters, is designed to educate students who have completed an EMT-Basic program to the paramedic level of care provision. Invasive skills and comprehensive assessments are taught to enable the student to provide advanced life support to the ill or injured patient. Defensive Driving Courses
Davidson County Community College offers Defensive Driving courses in cooperation with the National Safety Council and the District Attorney of Davidson and Davie Counties. The registration fee is $55 for a four-hour course and $95 for an eight-hour course.
Defensive Driving (4 hours)
This is a four-hour course for eligible individuals who have been ticketed for speeding or other minor traffic infractions.
Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving (8 hours)
This is an eight-hour course for the repeat traffic offender or driver with numerous traffic offenses as recommended by the District Attorney. The course teaches students to understand how their driving results from choices they make and that the responsibility for safe driving is their own.
