Thanks to the leadership of the North Carolina General and Governor’s Office Assembly, North Carolina high school students can earn college credits through a special Learn & Earn Online initiative. Registration for these courses is currently under way. Check with your guidance counselor if you are interested — even if your school’s formal course registration deadline has passed.
Qualified students in participating high schools can take a variety of online college credit courses at no cost to them or to their families. Students can earn both high school and college credit for completed courses.

How do I get started?
1. Fill out the application and make sure you and a parent/guardian has signed it in the appropriate places.
2. Contact your guidance counselor for approval.
3. Once you are registered you will receive a welcome letter from DCCC with instructions on how and when to begin your course.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do these college courses apply toward high school graduation? Yes, students may receive both high school and college credit. Check with your school counselor for specific details.
Who will teach the online college courses? Qualified college faculty teach these courses.
Are Learn & Earn courses hard? Courses taken from the community college are the same courses taught on campus. North Carolina Community College standards are high, and your success will depend upon effective work and good study habits.
How old do I have to be? At least 14 and in grades 9-12.
What courses can I choose from? Students may choose any online course that is available to traditional students.
Do I pay for tuition, books or fees? No, tuition, books and fees are free to qualifying students.
How do I go online? You will receive instructions from DCCC once you are registered and your high school facilitator will be able to assist you.
