Special Admission Requirements
Applicants for admission to the Phlebotomy program must have:
- Graduated from an accredited high school or have an Adult High School Diploma or have passed the GED with an equivalency certificate which meets the minimum requirements set by the State of North Carolina
- Acceptable scores on the College’s placement assessment
- Physical health compatible with the ability to obtain clinical experience in a health care agency
- A criminal background check and/or drug testing is required prior to participation in the clinical component

What does a phlebotomist do?
Phlebotomists are trained to draw blood using several different techniques. Safety precautions are critical during these procedures to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases.
What skills do I need to be able to be a phlebotomist?
You need to have good hand-eye coordination, be able to build relationships with people easily, and be detail-oriented.
