The community colleges and public schools of North Carolina collaborate to provide flexible, seamless, student-centered educational opportunities for all North Carolina high school students. These programs, which maximize the use of resources and educational opportunities not otherwise accessible, offer the following advantages:
- Earn college and high school credit at the same time!
- Tuition is free!
- Books may be free for some students
- The High School Cooperative Program can benefit students in public and private schools as well as home schooled students

Eligibility Requirements
- Students must be at least 16 years of age.
- Students should exhibit mature and responsible behavior.
- Students must be in good academic standing with their high school and have no conduct violations.
- Students must have reliable transportation.
- Students must meet benchmarks for reading, writing and math.
- Students must obtain the school principal's signature.
- Some schools may have additional requirements.
Course Selection Requirements
- Students are eligible to register for college courses that are not required for high school graduation.
- Students must be working toward graduation requirements.
- Some schools may have additional course selection guidelines.
Other Information
- Students must attend a required orientation at the College.
- Tuition is free.
- Students follow the College calendar.
- Students in the Cooperative High School Program have all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of DCCC students.
