Davidson County Community College began its Truck Driver Training Program in August 2001 after several years of operation in cooperation with the North Carolina Truck Driver School at Johnston Community College in Smithfield. Our program is approved by the North Carolina Community College System and is essentially the same eight-week, 384-hour program offered by the North Carolina Truck Driver Training School.
Our lead instructor has over 30 years' experience with over 10 years as an instructor with a major trucking company. Our road instructors each have from nine to more than 30 years over-the-road experience with such companies as Conway-Southern Express, D.M. Bowman, Jevic, Schneider and Yellow Freight, and two are former instructors at the North Carolina Truck Driver Training School.
