The purpose of the Social Science Department is to support the mission and goals of the College by: providing social science courses that prepare students to meet their career, degree, or transfer needs; providing students with a broader appreciation and awareness of their role in society and the world through their studies of the social sciences; encouraging a global perspective by emphasizing the inter-connectedness of people and cultures; and nurturing analytical skills by providing intellectual challenges and active learning opportunities.
