Frequently Asked Questions
I am interested in a health technology program; however, this program requires anatomy and physiology. I am anxious about taking the course since I have been out of school for a while. Is there anything I can do before taking anatomy to help me be successful?
Many students have found Concepts of Human Biology (BIO 094) to be helpful. The course is designed to prepare students for anatomy and physiology who have been out of school a while and/or have little or no background in biology.

There has been a lot in the news recently about the biotechnology industry. Does DCCC have a program that would prepare me to work in this field?
DCCC has a 1 + 1 agreement with Forsyth Technical Community College leading to an Associate in Applied Science degree in Biotechnology. Students complete the first year at DCCC, then transfer to FTCC to complete the second year. Students can also complete an Associate in Science degree and transfer to a university to complete a degree in one of the biotech fields such as biology or chemistry.

In order to transfer to a university, I am required to take one life course and one physical science course. How do I know the difference?
The life sciences all have the course prefix BIO. Physical sciences have the prefixes of CHM or PHY.

I have a physical handicap. How can I fulfill the physical education requirements for my degree?
Students with a physical handicap may take Fit and Well for Life (PED 110) to fulfill their physical education requirement.

I have a military background. Will my basic training give me any credit towards my physical education requirements?
Students who have completed basic training in the military are awarded four semester hours credit in physical education. A copy of the student’s DD214 form must be submitted to the Student Records Office.
