Frequently Asked Questions
Is financial aid available for students?
Financial aid is available. You need to contact the Financial Aid Office for further information and details for assistance.
How does the on-line degree work?
The on-line Computer Information Technology AAS program is designed for students to complete in three years. Students may complete sooner by taking courses during the day or evening. Most of the program is completely on-line but students may need to visit campus to complete labs, mid-terms, and final exams. Students may also test at an approved testing center such as another community college or public library. Students may need to purchase software programs to complete the course work. Some software programs may be provided by the instructor.
What types of skills are needed for the various business majors such
as accounting, business administration, human resources management, and
operations management?
Each of these majors requires reasonably good mathematical skills,
good communication skills (both written and oral communication), and good
people skills. However, some of these are particularly important for some of the
majors, as indicated below.
• Accounting: Students majoring in accounting should have good mathematical and problem-solving skills, and they should enjoy work that requires attention to detail and accuracy.
• Business Administration: Business administration majors should have an interest in the various areas of business (marketing, management,
accounting, finance, human resources, etc.), and they should have good mathematical and problem-solving skills and an interest in working with people.
• Human Resources: Students majoring in human resources management should have strong people skills and communication skills. Although not quite as important as in some of the other fields, a reasonable level of mathematical ability is needed.
• Operations Management: Students majoring in operations management should have strong problem-solving and quantitative (mathematical) skills. In addition, good communication and people skills are important to success in this field.
