Community Garden Project - DCCC's Green Initiatives

The students, faculty, and staff of Davidson County Community College gardened for the communities of Davidson and Davie Counties. The goal of the garden project was to introduce students and community volunteers to the concepts of environmentally friendly gardening in a "hands on" atmosphere. The produce harvested was donated to needy families in the communities we serve.

DCCC planted a variety of produce that we cultivated and harvested, including: corn, beans, cantaloupe, squash, zucchini, tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers. The garden was conveniently located behind the Gee building parking lot. The future “green garden” will be located behind the DCCC’s Green Home located across for the Davidson campus.
