DCCC to Break Ground for New Conference, Technology Center on Davidson Campus May 6

April 29, 2008

Ground will be broken on the Davidson Campus of Davidson County Community College Tuesday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m. for a new Conference, Training and Technology Center.

The 20,000 square-foot facility will include large, versatile spaces including a 96-seat auditorium/classroom. A large conference area offers a catering kitchen for use by campus and community groups. Upstairs rooms can accommodate up to 240 students or meeting participants.

In addition, it will house the new headquarters for the DCCC Workforce and Continuing Education Division which includes the DCCC Small Business Center. The new center will provide space for the DCCC Information Technology Department, which is now located in the library. This will make room for a much-needed expansion of library services in the Love Learning Resource Center.

As part of the construction project, a new road will be built into the campus on the north side of Old Greensboro Road. The second entrance will help improve traffic flow to the north side of campus. The building is financed through the Davidson County bond project approved by voters.

The two-story brick Conference, Training and Technology Center is expected to become a new focal point for the Davidson Campus. Its estimated completion date is fall 2009.
