DCCC Selects New Student Ambassadors

Davidson County Community College recently selected 21 students for the Student Ambassador program. Nominated by faculty and staff for their outstanding campus leadership and academic achievement, they represent the diversity of the DCCC college community.

DCCC Student Ambassadors and their staff advisor join a construction crew March 15 to help construct a new Habitat home for a Thomasville family. Ambassadors are Darlene Beeson, Christie Hairston, Zachary Brock, Keyla Ferreiras, Robin Wiggins, Debra Clonch, and Yvette Canty. Also shown are junior volunteer Myasia Diaz and the Habitat homeowners.

Ambassadors serve as liaisons between the community and DCCC, interacting with the public to promote the College. They assist with special events, including college night, career fairs, registration, commencement ceremonies and campus tours. New this year, DCCC Ambassadors will be trained to as student orientation leaders.

Ambassadors must possess strong interpersonal skills and be actively involved on campus and in the community. On March 15th, several DCCC Ambassadors volunteered to help build a new Habitat home in Thomasville. They were accompanied by their staff advisor, Yvette Canty of DCCC Student Services.

Newly selected DCCC Ambassadors are Chanel Anderson of Lexington, Leslie Angel of Archdale, Zachary Brock of Lexington, Debra Clonch of Lexington, Ashley Craver of Lexington, Keyla Ferreiras of High Point, Janice Hedrick of Lexington, Kayla Jarrett of Lexington, Lauren Martin of Lexington, Tiffany Moore of Lexington, Sherri Moree of Lexington, Gloria Myers of Lexington, Scotty Newsom of High Point, Anita Ogle of Advance, Melanie Poole of Lexington, Bridgett Roach of Lexington, Steve Smith of Lexington, Shannon Starling of High Point, Susan Thomas of Thomasville, Robin Wiggins of Thomasville and Mikki Wilson of Lexington.

Current DCCC Ambassadors are Susan Barber of Winston-Salem, Darlene Beeson of Lexington, Lori Burris of Lexington, Anneetra Daniels of Thomasville, Erica Dellinger of Lexington, Christie Hairston of Lexington, Julia Hand of Salisbury, Shannon Hensley of Thomasville, Meghan James of Lexington, Koni McCoss of High Point, Natalie Moore of Trinity, Dana Parker of Thomasville, Mike Roberts of Winston-Salem, Megan Short of Lexington, Shirley Smith of Thomasville, Brenda Walker of Lexington, Mattie York of Lexington and Megan Yountz of Winston-Salem.

“The faculty and staff are very proud of the Ambassadors’ level of commitment and dedication. I am confident they will serve as positive role models and encourage future students to be more involved and make a difference,” Canty said.
