DCCC volleyball to play for national title

Over the past four years, Matt Ridge has turned Davidson County Community College into a basketball hotbed.

The Storm's volleyball program has taken a big step toward sharing that spotlight.

DCCC went to Blue Bell, Pa. over the weekend and beat Montgomery County Community College to win the District H championship. With the win, the Storm earned a berth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III tournament Nov. 11-12 in Rochester, Minn. The top 8 teams in the country will compete for the national title, and the seeds will be announced Thursday.

For second-year coach Heather Adkins, it's been quite a ride. "My hope was to win the region, then the district, then to go on to nationals," Adkins said. "After the season got going, I knew we had a really good team. So we had high hopes."
