Davidson Early College H.S. Recognized For 100% Grad Rate

Lexington, NC -- Davidson County Schools' Early College High School has been recognized by the state for achieving a 100% graduation rate for the 2010-2011 school year.

This achievement reflects the teamwork amongst faculty, students and parents. It is also a tribute to the partnership among 3 school systems - Davidson County, Lexington City and Thomasville City - and Davidson County Community College.

The faculty provides extra tutoring and instruction, as well as places a premium on student responsibility. These qualities were also cited by Jobs for the Future in March 2011 publication, Accelerating College Readiness.

In May 2011, Davidson Early College High School graduated 29 students. Of the 29, 23 students earned both the high school diploma as well as one or more two-year transferrable college degrees.

Those graduates have transitioned to numerous colleges - including UNC-CH, NC State, Wingate University, Pembroke State University, UNC-C, UNC-G, East Carolina University, Western Carolina University, Salem College and Columbia University in New York City, to name a few - the military, and employment.

DECHS was recognized in December 2010 by the Piedmont Triad Consortium as one of the top performing high schools in the state, having an overall proficiency score of 99.4% on End of Course Tests.
