WELCOME | Like many of the hundreds who graduated Saturday from Davidson County Community College, the moment was bittersweet for James Robbins.
The 47th DCCC commencement ceremony honored 805 degree candidates. A total of 549 two-year associate degrees were awarded in addition to 508 certificates and 225 diplomas. Many students received more than one credential.
DCCC has been a special place for the 21-year-old Robbins, who has spent the past two years preparing himself for Saturday.
The Thomasville native received his associate's degree and now has his sights set on Guilford College in Greensboro, where he will attend this fall.
Robbins played basketball for DCCC and received the Presidential Scholarship from Guilford, an academic scholarship made available to Robbins who will also play basketball for the college.
“I'm excited to move on,” Robbins said. “I have a lot of goals I want to achieve but this place has been special.”
