N.C. Educational Opportunity Programs Spring Conference, Tuesday, April 12, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Conference Center
The DCCC Student Support Services program will host the N.C. Educational Opportunity Programs Spring Conference. Dr. Mary Rittling, DCCC president, will welcome the group during the opening session. Student Support Services programs assist first-generation, income-eligible, and disabled students in their pursuits of higher education.
Personnel from approximately 60 area colleges and universities are expected to attend including N.C. A&T State University, UNCG, United Piedmont College, St. Augustine College, Livingstone College, Beaufort Community College, and Piedmont Community College. Guest speaker is Alvin Phillips, who representatives The Council for Opportunity in Education.
Nature Encounters, April 13 and April 27, 9 a.m. to noon, Conference Center
DCCC Zoo and Aquarium Science students will team with area wildlife professionals to offer fourth graders in the Lexington City Schools a "Nature Encounter" on April 13 and April 27. DCCC students will work with staff from Rowan Wildlife Adventures and the N.C. Zoo to offer fourth graders free and exciting animal encounters. Animals will include small mammals, reptiles, and birds of prey such as wild hawks.

Salem College Information Sessions for Those Seeking Baccalaureate & Masters degrees in Teaching, Thursday, April 28, 5:30 p.m., Conference Center, Room 206
For those who have always wanted to teach, did you know you can work toward your goal without leaving DCCC’s Davidson Campus? This information session will outline how you can earn your bachelor’s degree and/or your teaching license through the educational partnership between DCCC and Salem College.
Individuals who are interested in knowing more about earning a master’s degree in education may also attend the information session where Salem College personnel will explain the DCCC partnership that grants the Masters of Education degree (M.Ed.) or a Master of the Arts of Teaching degree (M.A.T).
