The 27th annual Central Piedmont Emergency Services College will be held on the Davidson Campus of Davidson County Community College Feb. 18-20, and it is expected to draw more than 500 fire, rescue and public safety professionals from across North Carolina.

The 2010 Emergency Services College at DCCC provided a weekend of hands-on learning for first responders across the state. |
The weekend of hands-on classes offers the latest techniques in professional fire and rescue training for emergency responders who must be prepared to manage the many different situations they encounter on the job. The professional development is co-sponsored by DCCC and the Davidson County Public Safety Association.
In addition to the classes that begin Friday night and conclude Sunday afternoon, activities for children and their parents will be provided on Saturday by DCCC in partnership with the Davidson County Fire Marshal’s office. They will include information on fire protection such as “Stop, Drop and Roll” and “smoke house” exhibitions.
More than 500 firefighters, rescue personnel, emergency medical services, law enforcement, and industry personnel participated in approximately 35 professional development courses during last year’s emergency services college.
NOTE TO MEDIA:
Some photo opportunities will be available on Saturday afternoon, with more action-oriented opportunities scheduled on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. This is when most hands-on exercises are held, including rappelling from a building, extricating “victims” from vehicles, and ATV rescue operations.
Media representatives may receive assistance in locating photo and story opportunities during the emergency services college by reporting to a command post trailer located in the DCCC parking lot near the entrance to the campus bookstore.
